EuPRAXIA-DN Fellow David Gregocki recently volunteered on a two-week charity mission in Tanzania organized by OZ Misie and Adopcia na Diaľku (Slovak Catholic Charity). A personal initiative motivated by his interest in community support and education, the mission took him to the communities of Sukamahela, Buliga, and Kahama, where he volunteered in both humanitarian and educational activities.

A highlight of David’s time in Tanzania was delivering small hands-on physics experiments for young students. He introduced the students to basic optical principles using visible laser beams and simple lenses. The children eagerly experimented with focusing and defocusing the light, exploring how lens shapes influence laser beams. To ensure lasting impact, David donated the full experiment kit to local teachers, enabling them to continue using it in the classroom and to inspire young students in their future education.
David also assisted with the main mission activities of the program. Together with other volunteers, he helped deliver letters and gifts from sponsors to children in the program, along with mattresses and study materials provided by OZ Misie and supporters from Slovakia. In return, the children prepared drawings, letters, and photos to send back to their supporters, strengthening the connection between families in Tanzania and donors in Slovakia.
Building up on his fellowship's research activities, David’s involvement added educational value and compassionate support to the mission. The mission was a meaningful blend of service, cultural exchange, and education - an experience that David hopes will inspire others to engage in similar volunteer work.
